ABOUT US

Giles Pritchard-Gordon was the youngest ever Director of H.Clarkson & Co. In 1973 he left to establish his own Shipbroking company. In 1978 the company diversified into shipowning, building two 1,100 DWT dry cargo coasters in Yorkshire Drydock. In 1988 it bought its first tanker of 4,300 dwt (Lucy PG) and timechartered it to Shell for trading in the Caribbean. This relationship has been unbroken since then with currently four vessels being on long term charter with Shell. The first purpose built and designed vessel was delivered in 1992 (Eliza PG) to be followed by 9 further newbuildings in European yards. The current fleet is 12 tankers ranging from 5,400 dwt to 12,000 dwt.

David Campbell joined Giles Pritchard-Gordon and Co Ltd in 1983 to manage the two dry cargo coasters. He subsequently founded Campbell Maritime in 1984 in his home town of South Shields taking the technical management of the original two ships with him. Campbell Maritime technically managed all the company’s vessels until March 1st 2010 when Campbell Maritime was incorporated into Pritchard-Gordon Tankers, with David Campbell joining the board as Technical Director.

Pritchard-Gordon Tankers have had their own Cadet Training scheme since the late 1980’s and currently have 19 Cadet officers in the system. Early entrants are already sailing in the fleet at a senior level.
