New Building Programme

Everyone at PG Tankers is very pleased that the Company has now confirmed its order for one option one newbuilding 7,000 dwt product tankers with RMK Marine in Istanbul.  The first vessel will be delivered in summer 2017.  The design of the new vessels is exclusive to PG Tankers and is at the cutting edge of shipbuilding practice and environmental requirements.  In line with the Company’s tradition the vessel will be named Rose PG, after one of Giles Pritchard-Gordon’s granddaughters.

Hurricane Joaquin rescue

On the 2nd October, whilst on an altered course to avoid Hurricane Joaquin, the Henrietta PG rescued 8 crew members from the sinking MV Amazing, a 57 foot cargo vessel which sank off the coast of Puerto Rico.  The crew members had abandoned the vessel and were adrift in a small work boat with only a small hand held torch to aid their rescue (No VHF radio).  In force 8 winds with sea and swell to match, they were extremely fortunate that at 0500 AB Jason Trim noticed the torch light.  After making two passes to establish whether or not the light was from a fishing boat the Master sounded the general alarm, before swiftly rescuing all 8 crew members. Compliments to the ships staff for another excellent rescue.
